Using Virtual Private Networks (VPN) is a cost-effective way to use public networks for providing remote access connectivity, LAN-to-LAN
internetworking, and controlled access with an Intranet. Although VPN is an attractive option for expanding networking capabilities and
reducing costs associated with leased lines and WAN implementation, it takes experience to navigate the various protocols and vendor solutions available.
VPN’s have two major functions which are utilized within an organization (in many case both
functions are used).
The first is to provide a secure tunnel between two office locations. This provides
a single common network infrastructure for two or more locations which communicate securely
via the Internet connections at each location.
The second is to provide secure remote access to a corporate network from any outside location.
This is a common requirement for home office environments
where there is a large amount of traveling and resources requiring access
to the corporate internal network. This is typically used to connect a single computer to
an organizations internal network.
Dynamic Quest has the experience in both site-to-site and remote access VPN
architectures and will work with your organization to determine the best solution
to fit your corporate needs for remote network access.
